I realized I did not blog about food at all…(probably I was busy eating
)
The other day I tried my hand in making rotis. Well, don’t you laugh…the first attempt of any individual at Rotis is very tiring and frustrating..I am sure of that!!!
Anyway, my mom was here visiting me for two weeks and I thought I should learn how to make Rotis…(the best known ‘Fat-Free,’ less carb staple food for Indians) So, she kneaded the dough the first day and even rolled the Rotis…I just watched her, while she explained me her techniques to make soft fluffy Rotis. The next day we tried Rotis again for dinner, and this time I took the initiative of doing everything-from kneading to rolling out the Rotis, to even roasting them J
Kneading was easy (good for the loose flesh on my upper arms, got stronger)..the rolling out of Rotis to perfect circles was not easy at all…I still don’t know how all mom’s make a perfect circular Roti..Anyway, after every time I rolled the Roti, my mom came and touched up the finishing bit to make a near about circle of the amoebic Roti. But, mind you, on roasting it, it fluffed and I was so happy…
Since then I have been struggling to make my Rotis somewhat round if not perfect round but haven’t succeeded yet on that feat L But they at least taste like proper Rotis…so am happy for that. The Roti lesson after all did not go to waste J
@ 10:30 PM, Shamshabad Airport, Hyderabad!!!???
July 5, 2008
I was dilly dallying whether to write this post or not and then I thought possibly that’s the best way to kill time when you have ample of it. So, at this time in the night when you want to be in the comfort zone of your bedroom lying down cozily on your bed thinking good stuff….I am here waiting for my friend who is suppose to arrive from B’lore…(can’t put an exclamation mark here as he is a close friend J)
The reason why I am here so late is that there was no other time convenient for both of us…
Anyway, what I wanted to write about is that it is amazing how the airport always looks as if it is 8:00 in the night, the hustle bustle the crowd & the madness of busy ppl arriving and leaving…the new airport is impressive, big and sometimes very intimidating…You are supposed to know the dwindling ways that lead you exactly where you wanna be, whether it is to the International departure, or the Arrivals, or Domestic Departure…If you happen to be one of those individuals who ask every time for every direction and every second guidance then you will be looked down…The trick is to act as if you know every inch of this polished place and walk with a air of confidence in yourself, even if you do not know anything and you are shot scared inside….(at least I do that everytime
)
Anyway sitting here idle and yawning countless yawns, I look like a geek typing busily on my laptop. But honestly, this post kept me busy for some half an hour and I am glad about that…Considering that the flight is gonna be another half an hour late, I am trying to think what else I am gonna do as I don’t think my laptop is gonna sustain that long and give me company (it probably got bored). One interesting thing is how people look at you & think you are a snob if you happen to open a laptop in the middle of a busy place and work or pretend to work…I have been getting quite many looks now from people around me. There is this mother and her son sitting and giving me looks, then there are some young girls looking at me and rolling their eyes…Girl’s LOVE thinking, discussing & talking about other girls. In short, they like poking their nose in everyone’s business. Being a girl myself, I know it pretty well…(else what do you think we keep on talking about..!!!)
Well, let’s not deviate topics, I think I have to end this post here as my laptop is crying to me that it is gonna die soon. So, till the next post from me…Adios!
It’s Queen that took my heart!
June 16, 2008
I did not come from a very musically inclined background, but I liked singing and I was fortunate that my mother formed an integral part in making me realize the love of music and put me into classical music training for two years…my musical senses got better trained as I grew up and gradually made me passionate about music.
Well, my tastes were quite restricted to only Indian music, not classical, but nice old bollywood songs by some great composers like R.D. Burman, Salil Choudhary, Gulzar, S.D. Burman…and many more. It was around the time when I was in the 9th standard, that I started opening up my musical horizons to western rock (it always starts with this genre of music for everyone i guess)…So, thanks to my friends, my sister and sometime later my close friend for whom I listened to some of the greatest tracks ever composed…
I happened to listen to Queen in one of the school fests, not knowing that it was a song by Queen. The song, ‘We will, We will Rock You,’ was pretty much the mantra of any school fest that we went and it was more so because the word ‘Rock,’ was very conveniently replaced by the unspoken taboo ‘F’ word. And, everyone seemed to take pride in singing the altered version, especially the boys.
Anyway, instead of straying any further, I will write about what I initially wanted to write…It was when I heard ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ that Queen took my heart. A song so well composed and written…One of those rare compositions that grips you till the end J I can hear it any time…
I have read that the record company then did not want to release the track as it had an Opera influence in it, but singer & composer Freddie Mercury insisted on the release and soon later it went on to top the UK charts and stayed at the top for 9 weeks!!! I am sure there are 100’s others who love this song and can hear it any time, it’s an evergreen song…
So, for all those out there who share the same thoughts as mine regarding Queen, I share this song and it’s lyrics…Ok, Ok… I know that you can Google it and find the video on YouTube, (that’s where I got it from
) but if you have read it through till here, then do watch the video, sing along and please……don’t hit the back button… J Enjoy!

Words and music by Freddie Mercury:
Is this the real life-
Is this just fantasy-
Caught in a landslide-
No escape from reality-
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see-
I’m just a poor boy, I need no sympathy-
Because I’m easy come, easy go,
A little high, little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesn’t really matter to me,
To me
Mama, just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger, now he’s dead,
Mama, life had just begun,
But now I’ve gone and thrown it all away-
Mama ooo,
Didn’t mean to make you cry-
If I’m not back again this time tomorrow-
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters-
Too late, my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine-
Body’s aching all the time,
Goodbye everybody-I’ve got to go-
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth-
Mama ooo- (any way the wind blows)
I don’t want to die,
I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all-
I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango-
Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me-
Galileo, galileo,
Galileo galileo
Galileo figaro-magnifico-
But I’m just a poor boy and nobody loves me-
He’s just a poor boy from a poor family-
Spare him his life from this monstrosity-
Easy come easy go-,will you let me go-
Bismillah! no-,we will not let you go-let him go-
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let him go
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go let me go
No, no, no, no, no, no, no-
Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go-
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me-
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye-
So you think you can love me and leave me to die-
Oh baby-can’t do this to me baby-
Just gotta get out-just gotta get right outta here-
Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters-,nothing really matters to me,
Any way the wind blows….
& the blabbering begun…

I think I am getting more and more excited about blogging!!! Kinda getting a hang of it and loving it pretty much…In fact, today at work I spent part of time writing my 2nd post (hope my lead does not read this part)…
Just a gist of how I ended up blogging…
Hmmm, so when the entire concept of blogging & BlogSpot came into vogue, I thought well, let me also join the bandwagon and start the latest thing on the block, which is blogging!!! Sadly, I did not know what to write in my blog, so guess what I posted……….I posted some of my Essays that I had written as a part of an assignment at work!!! What a way to start a blog seriously! Whew, no wonder nobody ever visited it, but actually I did not quite warm up to the idea of getting too personal and revealing a part of me to the entire world (kinda guarded that way), which in turn left me posting stupid banal stuff like my essays…
This blog was actually created an year back, suddenly out of the blue and was left created without any posts…After one year, I read someone’s blog and got inspired to write my own…So, here I am making use of technology to express idle thoughts that somebody somewhere might enjoy reading…
I dunno how long I am going to be gripped by this fancy…but till the time I am into this…I can assure you that you will find posts every now and then and about the weirdest things in life…Of course about things that fascinates me and I will make sure that it fascinates you too.
The 1st Hello!
March 23, 2007
Well…I’m finally into blogging…
So, technically this is my first post and I think I should spend a bit more time thinking what I wanna write…or rather, isn’t blogging meant to be spontaneous??? I think it is a space where thoughts just flow and you end up writing what you wanna express, so, without much ado and thinking,, i will continue writing what i want to write and blabber on…
Few things about the way I choose to write:
a) In most of my posts, you will find the use of ellipses a lot, that means I am thinking
and am just pausing for a moment to choose my words and strain of thought. Do not mistake the frequent use of ellipses for incorrect usage and grammar errors (If you are an English teacher who is reading my blog, I won’t stop you, you have the right…But, oh! what the heck, it is MY blog!!!)
b) I sometimes may end up writing really long posts, so if you happen to visit my blog and choose to spend your idle time reading this blabberish post, then you better pick a time when your boss is not around, or your spouse is busy in their own work or your kids are away at school or playing.
c) If you are in a government job, you do not have to worry about the clause mentioned in b).
I can’t think of any more UWP (Unique Writing Points) of my style of writing…If I do find more, this space will be updated.
One thing I can say about this blog is that it is gonna smell very desi…I love my home city Calcutta, WB and you might have guessed by now that this is another Bengali blogging…This blog is gonna be spilt over with excerpts of my memories in Calcutta…what I learnt being a Calcuttan…my character, and an integral part of me that I owe to this city & it’s generosity…
Another topic that you will come across is about the city that I have been residing for the past two and half years of my life, Hyderabad, AP…a developing city, opening up to new cultures and quietly making it’s presence felt in the national scene with the recent Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. The city of Charminar, Hyderabadi Biriyani, and ‘Chiru’…to name a few.
The third topic that will definitely be discussed is FOOD…I am a foodie and love sharing the gastronomical reactions that happen in my stomach at the sight of good food
– I go happy like this.
So, folks watch out this space for more blabber from me…Till then, go do some work!!!
and I too should do some i guess
Keep reading and commenting!
