I realized I did not blog about food at all…(probably I was busy eating
)
The other day I tried my hand in making rotis. Well, don’t you laugh…the first attempt of any individual at Rotis is very tiring and frustrating..I am sure of that!!!
Anyway, my mom was here visiting me for two weeks and I thought I should learn how to make Rotis…(the best known ‘Fat-Free,’ less carb staple food for Indians) So, she kneaded the dough the first day and even rolled the Rotis…I just watched her, while she explained me her techniques to make soft fluffy Rotis. The next day we tried Rotis again for dinner, and this time I took the initiative of doing everything-from kneading to rolling out the Rotis, to even roasting them J
Kneading was easy (good for the loose flesh on my upper arms, got stronger)..the rolling out of Rotis to perfect circles was not easy at all…I still don’t know how all mom’s make a perfect circular Roti..Anyway, after every time I rolled the Roti, my mom came and touched up the finishing bit to make a near about circle of the amoebic Roti. But, mind you, on roasting it, it fluffed and I was so happy…
Since then I have been struggling to make my Rotis somewhat round if not perfect round but haven’t succeeded yet on that feat L But they at least taste like proper Rotis…so am happy for that. The Roti lesson after all did not go to waste J
@ 10:30 PM, Shamshabad Airport, Hyderabad!!!???
July 5, 2008
I was dilly dallying whether to write this post or not and then I thought possibly that’s the best way to kill time when you have ample of it. So, at this time in the night when you want to be in the comfort zone of your bedroom lying down cozily on your bed thinking good stuff….I am here waiting for my friend who is suppose to arrive from B’lore…(can’t put an exclamation mark here as he is a close friend J)
The reason why I am here so late is that there was no other time convenient for both of us…
Anyway, what I wanted to write about is that it is amazing how the airport always looks as if it is 8:00 in the night, the hustle bustle the crowd & the madness of busy ppl arriving and leaving…the new airport is impressive, big and sometimes very intimidating…You are supposed to know the dwindling ways that lead you exactly where you wanna be, whether it is to the International departure, or the Arrivals, or Domestic Departure…If you happen to be one of those individuals who ask every time for every direction and every second guidance then you will be looked down…The trick is to act as if you know every inch of this polished place and walk with a air of confidence in yourself, even if you do not know anything and you are shot scared inside….(at least I do that everytime
)
Anyway sitting here idle and yawning countless yawns, I look like a geek typing busily on my laptop. But honestly, this post kept me busy for some half an hour and I am glad about that…Considering that the flight is gonna be another half an hour late, I am trying to think what else I am gonna do as I don’t think my laptop is gonna sustain that long and give me company (it probably got bored). One interesting thing is how people look at you & think you are a snob if you happen to open a laptop in the middle of a busy place and work or pretend to work…I have been getting quite many looks now from people around me. There is this mother and her son sitting and giving me looks, then there are some young girls looking at me and rolling their eyes…Girl’s LOVE thinking, discussing & talking about other girls. In short, they like poking their nose in everyone’s business. Being a girl myself, I know it pretty well…(else what do you think we keep on talking about..!!!)
Well, let’s not deviate topics, I think I have to end this post here as my laptop is crying to me that it is gonna die soon. So, till the next post from me…Adios!
